BIOGRAPHY

Phil Joannides was born on 14th of December 1997 in Nicosia, Cyprus.
When he was 12 years old he began to playing the electric guitar and had his first taste of the creative flow state.
He began to teach himself to paint at the age of 17, inspired by a series of visionary experiences that he felt compelled to try and capture. He first experimented with watercolours before discovering his preferred medium of oil paint.
In 2016 he moved to Vienna, Austria and spent three years there studying at the Vienna Academy of Visionary Art (VAVA). At the academy he was fortunate to learn directly from many of the greatest living Visionary Artists: Kuba Ambrose, Jonathan Solter, Amanda Sage, Daniel Mirante, Li Lian Kolster, Luke Brown, Chris Dyer, Olga Klimova, Rebecca Yanovskaya, Lucy Hardie, Oleg Korolev, Autumn Skye Morrison, Ihti Anderson and Laurence Caruana.
The various painting techniques he learned at the academy including decalcomania and the mischtechnik, as well as methods for expanding awareness such as Lucid Dreaming and Vipassana meditation were fundamental to shaping his creative process.
Phil is currently based in Nicosia, Cyprus where he continues to create and exhibit his artwork regularly. He also gives private painting lessons and occasionally live paints at events.
